Engineering EXPO
Our organization puts on an expo to show off the college and student exhibits every two years.

Engineering Physics Society
The purpose of the Engineering Physics Society is three-fold: 1. Provide a social network for engineering physics majors. 2. Provide a forum for scientific, academic, and professional discourse for engineering physics majors. 3. Provide community outreach and education with regard to emerging scientific and technological applications. As a new engineering major, engineering physics demands excellent academic and research performance from its students. Due to the independent and multidisciplinary nature of the major, the central goal of the EPS will be to provide an autonomous, student-run resource to help guide new and existing EP students through the rigorous academic and research program. Additionally, because EP is such a small major and course requirements draw from a broad range of fields, strong social bonds among classmates are more difficult to develop when compared with traditional engineering majors. Therefore, the EPS will provide a social network for prospective and current EP majors as well as alumni. Finally, it is our belief that new and emerging technologies will become increasingly important to society as a whole, and, as engineers, it is our responsibility to keep the general public cognizant of contemporary scientific advancement.

Human Powered Vehicle Team
Our primary goal is to create a human powered vehicle (HPV) incorporating various mechanical systems before April 2006. The device will be propelled by one rider. Our team will design and build energy storage, steering, braking, and gearing systems, a fairing, and a frame. The vehicle will compete in 3 competitions, a speed, utility, and an endurance race. Therefore, it is our goal to fabricate an efficient and fast product. Our design will incorporate all necessary features in a compact, lightweight, and durable form. We plan to build off of our design from last year. Secondly, a goal of the team is to augment theory presented in the classroom. The HPV challenge will give students an opportunity to build technical competency in a hands-on manner. They will have a chance to experience designing, manufacturing, and testing a product. The third goal is to document the entire HPV process. The documentation would be a resource for future teams and a source of publicity for the University of Wisconsin — Madison and the state of Wisconsin.

Hybrid Vehicle Team
The Hybrid Vehicle Team consists mainly of undergraduate students from the University of Wisconsin who work together to build Hybrid Electric Vehicles. Many of the members have little to no previous automotive experience but they learn from working alongside seasoned members. The master/apprentice type learning environment lends itself well to the constant turn over of students as the old members graduate and new students step up to teach the next generation.
